My essay, dated back 28/2/2007. O: (minus the retarded grammar mistakes I made) :
"What do you think about this mum?"
I held out the letter that I received from the community centre's annual racial gathering for the next day.My mother replied,"It's up to you to decide."
I was already quite used to that reply so I just went off to my room.
I decided to call Atiqah whether she wanted to go to the gathering. Atiqah was delighted to go, she also invited Vishnu to come too. Since it was a pot-luck gathering, I decided to bring my mother's specialty dish, fried noodles. At night, I decided on what to wear to the gathering.
I had always liked going to racial gatherings, I would always see people in their traditional costumes. Some would even wear traditional clothing of other races! Well, I was one of them who did that. I felt that it was very interesting to wear clothing of other races because each traditional clothing had an interesting history behind them.
I decided to choose the kimono as it looked very graceful. I exchanged my Chinese dress known as the cheung-sum with my Japanese friend for her kimono.
In the morning when I woke up, I smelt the nice fragrance of fried noodles being cooked. I looked at my alarm clock and it was eight in the morning. I thought to myself..
"That early? Wow, I better go see what's cooking." I walked towards the kitchen, the normal hangout for my mother and grandmother.
The were cooking with great expertise. My mother fried the noodles using a new pot and vegetable oil so that the Malays could try some as well.
I started to get dressed up and needed quite some time to put it on. It was already ten-thirty in the morning when I finally dressed up so it took me about twenty minutes to dress-up. (?) The plated of fried noodles was already waiting by the table.
I hurriedly went to the community centre with my noodles. Many people attended the gathering and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly especially Vishnu who got to eat a vast variety of food. We got to play traditional games and had lots of fun. As the day ended, we reluctantly went home, but, we had free goodies as a memory to bring back home with us.
Now, I'm looking forward to the next racial gathering for the next year. Well, I hope there would be more fun and games next time..
